Prayer Anchors Our Heart with His
As we approach the upcoming midterm election season, it is easy to feel overwhelmed by the noise, the debates, and the constant stream of candidate advertising. During times like these, it is incredibly valuable for us to step back, anchor ourselves in God’s Word, and remember where our ultimate hope lies.
The Scriptures remind us that prayer isn't a passive response, but a powerful action. In 1 Timothy 2:1–2, we are urged to offer "supplications, prayers, intercessions, and thanksgivings... for kings and all who are in high positions, that we may lead a peaceful and quiet life, godly and dignified in every way." Notice that this call to prayer isn't partisan—it is a blanket invitation to lift up all leaders and our nation as a whole, asking for peace, unity and wisdom.
We are also reminded in Proverbs 21:1 that "the king's heart is a stream of water in the hand of the Lord; he turns it wherever he will." No matter the political climate, human authority rests under the greater authority of God. Through prayer, we become active partners in God's purpose for our neighborhoods and our nation."
Let’s commit to being a people who choose prayer over anxiety and faith over division during this season. Let's pray for wisdom for voters, integrity for candidates, and peace across our communities. Your faith and your prayers matter more than you know.
A thought to walk with: The first thing prayer changes is our heart—aligning it with His.
