The Purpose of Change
“Behold, I will do a new thing, now it shall spring forth; shall you not know it?” – Isaiah 43:19a
For some, change brings excitement. For me, it often brings an “Uh oh”. Change can be uncomfortable because it pulls us out of what’s familiar. But that’s not always bad.
Often, change is where God reaches our hearts and leads us into growth. It may not always feel easy, but in Him there is always good purpose. The rest of Isaiah 43:19 reveals God’s heart in change:
“I will even make a road in the wilderness and rivers in the desert.” – Isaiah 43:19b
God desires to lead us out of dry and unfruitful places into renewal, life, and refreshing—teaching us to walk closely with Him, grow in faith, and reveal Christ more fully in us.
That is the heart behind these Secret Place blogs. They serve three purposes:
Pastoral Purpose: Pastor Steve began these blogs years ago to offer weekly spiritual encouragement from his daily walk with Christ. They continue to help our church family and friends stay grounded, encouraged, and connected to God throughout the week.
Connection Purpose: The blog also keeps our community informed about upcoming events, prayer gatherings, and opportunities to engage at Jubilee.
Communal Purpose: In this new season, while Pastor Brian will be our main author, from time-to-time other trusted leaders within Jubilee will also share what God is speaking and doing among us, strengthening our walk together in faith.
So, stay tuned. In the coming weeks, Secret Place will have a new look and a new name, but its purpose will remain the same: to encourage us in our weekly walk with Jesus—both individually and as a community—and to connect us as we walk weekly together in the Spirit of Christ.
